There are quite a few different things that your doctor will advise you not to do while you are pregnant, this will ensure the safety of both you and your unborn child. One of the most major however, and that they want you to take in all seriousness, is to keep away from cat litter while you are pregnant.

The reason that your doctor will instruct you to stay away from the cat litter box if you are pregnant is because cat feces can carry a parasite that causes toxoplasmosis, this infection could be potentially life threatening for your developing baby, but not for you.

So instead of cleaning the cat litter yourself while you are pregnant, you will want to get someone else to do it. Although the odds of contracting toxoplasmosis while you are pregnant are quite low, but of course in this case it is far better to be safe than sorry, this is why doctors will recommend that you just do not go anywhere near cat litter while is are pregnant.

Other Tips

There is a few other things that you need to avoid also while you are pregnant, as well as cat litter. As most people acknowledge, smoking is very bad, but never more so than if you are pregnant.

Smoking during pregnancy will do lots more harm to your unborn child than it will to you, even if you were a smoker before you got pregnant, you should cut back as much as possible or hopefully discontinue altogether, in order to guarantee the best health of your unborn child.

Smoking is a major health problem, but at least if you do it when you are not pregnant you will not have the worry about harming your baby. The more you smoke while pregnant, the bigger risk that she has of having a low-birthweight baby. This will greatly affect the health of your baby, and especially if they are premature they may not be able to make it through.

Research indicates that any woman who smokes at anytime during the month before pregnancy to the end of the first trimester are more in all likelihood to have a child with birth defects.

I hope you can see from this, staying away from cat litter and other things that are going to be maybe unsafe to your growing baby is really important, and will ensure that they stay in the best possible health.
