Mothers choose a type of diaper for various reasons including cleanliness, health, convenience and cost. There are more types of cloth nappies available now, more than ever. Some require no other pieces while some require covers or inserts. Here’s a look at a few types.
## All in Ones or All in Twos
An *All in One* is generally a nappy that does not require anything else. Functionally it’s similar to a disposable. The soaker is sewn in as part of the nappy and the whole thing can close with snaps or Velcro.
An *All in Two* is just the same only the soaker can be removed. This comes especially handy when the baby pees and you can take out the soaker from a pocket and substitute it with a new one.
A pocket style nappy does not usually need any cover as it is made out of polyurethane laminate or something identical to that material. The inner fabric may be made from microfleece, velour, cotton or bamboo. The level of absorption will affect the dryness of a baby. This kind of nappy is safely sewn with one opening in order to insert the absorbent material like microfiber or hemp.
## How Does a Fitted Nappy Work?
This nappy is simply cotton, hemp, fleece, etc which is sewn together but does not have a waterproof layer. It will require a cover layer. Without the cover, baby’s pee will soak through to furniture or your lap. With these it’s important to make sure to check them often to prevent leaks.
## Prefold Style Nappies
Prefold nappies are the unadorned rectangular cloths that are folded up into 3 areas. There are a total of 4 layers on the outer side while 6 or 8 layers on the inner side. The fabric usually used are — again — cotton, hemp and bamboo. These nappies are handy for pocket stuffing and great for extra absorbency.
A good idea is to look for bulk nappies. Since you will always be going through nappies during your child’s early years, getting nappies wholesale would represent good savings. It may cost more upfront but over the long haul and especially if you have more kids, you will appreciate having lots on hand or even for when you have your friends and their babies over for a visit. You can find cloth nappies Australia online but you may want to try them out first so that you don’t place a large order and then realize they’re not what you were wanting. Or should we say…not what your *baby* was wanting?
