Family outings are great, for the season of summer, because of its great weather and its many choices it has to offer. However, there are many that are on a tight budget, and are struggling to find something to do, and are unable to organize trips for their family that they are able to afford. You can skip those expensive holidays, and enjoy spending time with your family in your own area. Spending time with your family in your home town, can be affordable and wont break your budget on gas; here are some tips on finding family outings for free.

Look At Your Local Newspaper

In your local newspaper, you should be able to find many events advertised, like festivals and fairs. Look at the Saturdays paper in the classifieds, as they will be able to provide you with the following weeks events. Some local newspapers provide, a society section (which is separate from the newspaper) have a look and see what they have to offer. You will be happy to see that you will be able to spot many upcoming events that what cost very much.

Visit Your Community Center

Majority of towns either small or large, will have a community center that organizes all the charitable organizations or sporting teams. If your town does have one of these centers, pop down and look at their calendars for the rest of the events for this summer. You may find things such as sporting events, craft shows, and many other gatherings that can be free and family friendly.

Visit Your Local Website

There are many towns, that have a website for their local community, and this can be very helpful especially if you are looking for something to do. If you do not no what the web address is, type the towns name in a search engine, like Google or yahoo and it should give you the local address. The other choice is to give your local center a call and ask them what it is. When you do have the address, look at the calendars dates as see what they have available, and see which ones you and your family will like to do.

Know what it is you are looking for

Look for events such as a family night at the movies at your local park, charity events, concerts, magic shows in your local area. Also look for smaller gatherings such as a tennis game, or cooking classes, and camping events. If you happen to be in a large town they may have a fireworks display on, or the town may have organized to have someone come in to entertain the children, or give a low price for carnivals that will have games that you can do, as well as an outdoor barbecue that everyone will be able to go to. When you do look for something to do with your family make sure that they will interest your family, but be willing to try something new; if you think it is uninteresting you could be missing out on something great, as that event could be the one that your family remembers.
