So you just had a baby and you brought her or him back from the hospital and now you are on your own to care for your baby. There are no more nurses to rely on when you are too tired to tend to your infant. Babies wake up during the night three times a night, well; it is time to give you some peace and help your baby sleep through the entire night.

If your baby does not sleep through the night, you probably have looked into every tip to try to soothe them, from a ride in the car, to pleading with your infant to stop. It is realized that every baby does not respond to the same technique. You have to find what works for them and ride with it.

Getting your baby to sleep through the entire night may be easier than you think. Parents think there is some magic cure, but there is not. Techniques can be so simple that you may wonder why you never thought of it yourself.

Routines are important for all people, especially for babies. Have a bedtime routine, a routine that is consistent everyday should teach your child what to expect next. A routine may be dinner, play, read and bed. Babies should learn that after that book, it is time for bed.

The eating habits of your baby may be the reason why you cannot get a full night sleep. As your child grows, so does their appetite. Without the proper nutrients sleeping through the night will never happen. Even if they drink the entire bottle, they may need more, something solid. You can talk to your doctor and let them know how often your baby wakes up and they may suggest solid food, like baby cereal.

A baby that is active during the day should be more tired when night time comes. It is similar to an adult coming home after a long day at work. Typically, someone is tired after being at work all day, dealing with physical or emotional stresses can take a toll on a person. Babies seem to be similar, so be sure you play with them, giving them a little workout. Play some music during the day and have them dance, and kick until they get tired.

It may be that the baby needs something to suck on to help calm them. Pacifiers are typically used for this reason. Some parents do not like them because children can form a real dependency on them, and at age two-three, they still have them. Parents need to be strict when weaning a baby off a pacifier.

It is suggested to no play at bedtime, many parents make this mistake. You may be rocking your baby to bed and as you look at them you may laugh and kiss them then before you know if, you and your baby are laughing. This is not a good idea, because they will get confused as to what bedtime really means.

Finally you may choose to have them cry it out. There are different opinions about this technique. If you choose this, be sure to research how long is enough to let them cry. The older your baby gets, the longer they cry, and this is tough to handle as a parent. You will test each technique to find what works to help your baby sleep through the entire night. Once you do find what works, there should be more nights where you can have a full nights sleep.
