The safety of the crib must be the first consideration: make sure you buy a crib that is not too old and has been deemed safe, and watch for any cribs that have been recalled. Using an old crib from previous children, friends or family may be more cost effective, however be careful, as old cribs may not conform to modern safety standards. Even though an antique crib may look nice, it was built a long time ago before safety standards were so strict and could do a lot of harm to your baby.

The simplicity and joy of maintaining your infant’s room will be a breeze if you have extra crib linens. Keep a supply of more than five sheets to help with bedding change at odd hours and frequency.

Having multiple crib sheets available will keep the pressure off at laundry time as you will not have to do an unexpected load of laundry in order to get your baby a clean sheet. You will really appreciate this preparation if your baby spits up in bed at two in the morning. Keeping the room simple will also facilitate easy baby care. Decorating baby room is best when simple; complementing trinkets, and pictures are more aesthetic than a cluttered nursery. Be sure to have the furniture, drawers and shelving you need, but limit it to what is necessary.

Too much shelving can lead to excess clutter, giving the room a disorderly feeling. If you put up a lot of pictures and decorations, you’ll have to do a lot more cleaning in the future. With a new baby, it is important to create a comforting area that won’t give you more work to do.

Take the time to treasure decorating your child’s bedroom with your preferences of paint, curtains, knick knacks and crib bedding. The baby’s room should relax you too to spend a happy time with the baby. The nursery needs to be simple to maintain and keep clean, so that taking care of your new child isn’t unnecessarily complicated. The quality time you spend with your baby will create lasting memories, and enhance your baby’s well being.
